Biography & Words 





Amah Cynthia Dongo (b. Paris, France) is a geometric abstract painter whose work investigates identity as constructed architecture. Born in Paris and originally from Côte d'Ivoire, she holds dual French-American citizenship.

Her
practice span a systematic structural ongoing bodies of work: including large scale paintings, geometric and architectural tectonic paintings, and the figurative masks that weave her textile and design background along with works on paper and  mixed-media works. Her emphasis is working the mask as a system rather than identity through a visual language of abstraction through form and shapes.  


Her
work has been exhibited internationally, including at Shinwa Art Auction (Tokyo), the 50th Pyramid Atlantic Biennial, the Oklahoma State University Museum (Cimarron National Works on Paper), Visionary Projects NYC, and Francis Gallery. She was selected for the White Columns Curated Artist Registry in 2022. Her public art commissions include La Pyramide Brutalism Mural in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire , Curbside by Canvas in New York (2020), and a 2026 commission for the City of West Hollywood.

Her work has been featured in Spirit & Flesh, C de L'Art, Room Magazine, and Fox News, among others.

Dongo
studied English Literature at the University of California, Davis (BA, 2008), the Oxford University Affiliated Literary Program (2008), and Fashion Design at Parsons The New School of Design (AAS, 2012). Her work is held in private collections in Tokyo, Paris, and New York. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
