1/Amah:Identity

Amah is a color-focused synesthetic artist who utilizes geometric shapes to create a dialogue on how we perceive and see what is around us. By playing with size, space, and color, her desire to focus on the  elements of colors and shapes are layered with complexity in multi-dimensional methods.

Amah’s usage of  lines and intensity of hues serve to push the counterpoints of linguistic ideology and manifest an abstract narrative through geometry. She reflects on the futuristic times with a metaphorical analysis of the overuse of communication, imagery, and sensory experiences.

The oppositional force that she repeatedly uses in her work not only reinforces the dualistic nature of her intricate labyrinth identity; in which she balances the chaos of language and harmonizes subconscious elements by framing it in balance.

The influence of her African heritage and focus on identity is depitcted often in the abstract representation of a mask or face. She shows the revelation and concealement through geometric fragments and motion. Amah, explores the depth of identity as something that has been lost, marginelized, and rejected. In counterpush, she addresses the universal idenitity as an associative psyche of one self. These layers of identity fade and blend creating the tension and inner pull of societal norms of how one must define themself through the face they wear.
